AFRICA’S LARGEST MOSQUE COMPLETED IN ALGERIA
Algeria’s largest contractor successfully completes the Great Mosque Djamaâ El Djazaïr of Algiers
CSCEC Algeria, a subsidiary of China State Construction Engineering Corporation is proud to deliver Africa’s Largest Mosque. This huge infrastructural project is in Algiers, the capital city of Algeria.
Construction for the Great Mosque of Algiers commenced in February 2012 despite criticism over government choice of spending. In fact, health workers in the country continue to complain about the lack of funding in their sector.

Before the resignation of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, He ensured the project was financed using gains from Algeria’s lucrative Oil Industry. So far, over USD 1 billion is the price tag for this huge project. This is due to delays following the crude oil crisis that also forced the sale of the Algerian oil firm – Anadarko Petroleum to Chevron.
