The Democracy Day in Nigeria is one of the most important holidays in the country. It was the date when the military rule in Nigeria ended! that is the 29th of May, 1999.
So every 29th of May, is a holiday to celebrate the change to democracy in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
It was on this day (May 29th 1999) President Olusegun Obasanjo took office as the first democratic president after decades of military rule.
This day is remembered as the day of celebration and the day of struggles.
