SOUTH AFRICA’s PRESIDENT ATTENDS PUBLIC-PRIVATE GROWTH INITIATIVE (PPGI) MEETING

President Ramaphosa attends the PPGI meeting at the Gallagher Convention Centre last night.
President Cyril Ramaphosa yesterday night addressed the Public-Private Growth Initiative (PPGI) during a meeting at the Gallagher Convention Centre. The aim of the meeting is to explore opportunities in the nation’s public-private sector.
Another aim of the meeting is to get more sectors and stakeholders who will stimulate economic growth and ensure integration of plans between government and the private sector.
After the meeting a five year sectoral plan aimed at generating growth & creating jobs was generated.

The reason for establishing Public-Private Growth Initiative (PPGI) in April 2018, was to align strategic planning between government and the private sector.
PPGI was also to help in improving economic growth and the way government and businesses work together.

The Chairman of the meeting was Minister in the Presidency for the National Planning Commission for Policy and Evaluation; Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma.
This PPGI meeting serves as an update to the President to ensure his assessment of developments in the economy includes private sector participation and contributions . It is also a build up to the much anticipated ”state of the nation address” which is drawing closer.
The #PPGI update was presented to the President in the build-up to the February 7 #SONA2019, to ensure that the President’s assessment of developments in the economy include the diverse actions developed by the private sector to contribute to renewal and growth in the country

The “state of the nation address” will hold on the 7th of February 2019; and it will focus on the nation building.
