TANZANIA GOVT. ALLOCATE FUND TO CONSTRUCT VIP ROUTE ON MT. KILIMANJARO
As part of plans to increase the tourism sector of the nation, Tanzania Government has allocated fund for the construction the the VIP route.
The construction of a 25-kilometre route for Very Important Persons (VIP), will be used by tourist while climbing Mountain Kilimanjaro.
In a press statement by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism reads “The launching of the new route will help in hiking government revenue through local and international tourism, and as well as increasing economic opportunities for residents of Old Moshi East Ward, especially those providing tour guide services and those doing business with tourists around the area”.
The ministry also said “Because of the importance of that route, Tanzania National Park Authority (TANAPA) decided that the VIP route be incorporated into the ten-year plan dubbed General Management Plan (GMP)- 2016-2026.”
According to local media DailyNews, the fund allocated is worth 200m.
