South Africa has developed without many legal restrictions for over 20years now but it has come at the detriment of some community in the nation.
These detriment has resulted in industrial risks such as environmental pollution, contamination and health impacts to such communities.
Since the country’s democratic transition in 1994, important regulations and legislation have been developed about the impact of industry on the environment and society. But air pollution, environmental contamination and health risks still occurs.
These is due to government focused on large-scale industrial development to strengthen the economy which has led to the increased risks to communities.
Areas such as Zamdela and the South Durban Industrial Basin in KwaZulu-Natal has been affected the most due to the large industrial activities in those location.
