CHINESE GOVERNMENT BUILDS 1029 BOREHOLES IN GHANA
China constructs 1029 boreholes in Ghana
China have built 1029 boreholes in Ghana to help solve its water problem. The drilled boreholes constructed in 10 region across Ghana is to enable increased access to portable drinking water.
The project is under the china-aided borehole project that will help rural community achieve the SDGs goal six.
The 1029 boreholes in Ghana are worth about US$20m and includes a hand-pump borehole and submersible pumps. It supplies more than 500,000 residents of remote communities with clean water.
Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Shi Ting Wang said “Many people fall sick, and learning hours are also disrupted negatively when students walk kilometers in search of safe drinking water.”
According to him, this project will also help grow both nations relationship as China is willing to contribute its strength and wisdom to achieving Ghana’s goals.
Ghana Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah also said “The government would support any initiative. She also said this initiative would enhance access to safe water and improve sanitation services to all Ghanaians.”
Jiangxi Zhongmei Engineering Construction Group Co. Ltd was responsible for the construction of the 1029 boreholes in Ghana.
