BUHARI SIGNED UNIVERSITY OF PETROLEUM RESOURCE BILL ESTABLISHMENT
Buhari sign bill to establish a petroleum university in Effurun, delta state to promote and create new technology in the sector.
The bill to establish the university is gear towards having a specialised university in the Niger Delta, charged with training and research in petroleum technologies.
Petroleum is Nigeria greatest export and also contributes about 9% to its economy so it seen fit to have a university that will help promote and create new technology that will help grow the sector and the country economy.
The bill which was signed by the President, Muhammadu Buhari in a brief ceremony at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, pledged his continued support for the socio-economic development of the Niger Delta region
Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu; “This administration is fully committed to supporting the Niger Delta in its endeavours to achieve socio-economic development.”
The spokesman also appealed to the communities in the region to strive for peace through dialogue in resolving all conflicts not only among them, but also with business entities and the authorities.
The university is set to be established in Effurun, Delta State and will be the first petroleum university in the country.
