DUALISATION OF THE HARARE-CHIRUNDU HIGHWAY WILL BOAST MASHONALAND WEST.
Zimbabwe kicks off the first project (Harare-Chirundu highway) to achieve the middle income economy vision.
The first 6.5km of the 21km road from Makuti-Chirundu linking the Zimbabwe to Sadc, Comesa and East African states is presently ongoing. The project commissioned by President Mnangagwa will be financed by the US$21 million Japan grant. The Ministry of Transport and infrastructural Development and Japanese engineers will be support the project.
On completion this road will be a key road connecting the Western part of Mashonaland to other parts the country. The regular accidents that occur in this road before now will drop said the affairs minister Mary Mliswa Chikoka.
Also adding during the commissioning of the Harare-Chirundu highway that;
“I am equally delighted at the prospect of this project in the rehabilitation and maintenance of our road network as a province, a prospect that will certainly make us a key transport hub that links our province to our great nation and, indeed, the world,” said Mliswa-Chikoka.
The project is inline with the President’s 2030 vision of achieving a middle income economy. The project will encourage development of large amount of modern infrastructure within the country. In addition, similar projects will be carried out for the remaining five years of his tenure.
Local and foreign investors are welcome to help develop the country’s infrastructure in other to make the country a better place.
