Polymeric chemical product used in the construction of a road closed to the newly constructed 14 Military Hospital
Polyroads-West Africa, a South African based company has announced the completion of a road leading to the newly constructed 14th Military Hospital in Liberia.
Speaking during a tour around the area, Assistant Works Minister Kaustella Kialain said the road is a pilot project as more is expected. She also noted that such technology will be the best for the country’s road construction, particularly feeder and farm-to-market roads.
The road has a significant amount of polymeric chemical products in its makeup. However, Kialain said the ministry team will monitor the road within the next six month. This will also include rainy season to determine if it can withstand the condition of the country.
WHY USED POLYMERIC CHEMICAL INSTEAD OF ASPHALT?
Such question will always be put forward by citizen especially does that have used asphalt for a long time. According to Adam Anorejki, team leader of the Liberia Swedish Feeder Road Project, the polymeric chemical product is very good. While, Austin S. Doe from PTSACOM said roads in the country develop potholes faster because it lacks quality which this product can solve. It will also cut down huge expenditure on the construction of roads which is vital for every developing nation.
On a personal opinion, such technology should be embraced. As the world is moving into a technology era which is a plus for the construction industry in Africa.
The 1KM road is believed to be among several projects that will be dedicated during the February 11, 2020 Armed Forces Day celebration in the nation.
