PREPAID WATER METER TO BE INSTALL BY DAWASCO IN TANZANIA
DAWASCO to install prepaid water meter that will help control water usage and ensure their customer start paying their bills upfront before accessing water service.
Dar es Salaam Water and Sewerage Corporation (DAWASCO) which is a water utility company in Tanzania is set to install a prepaid water meter that will help the company recover costs and debts as well as control water usage.
The project is to improve the company business with their customer to start paying their bills upfront before accessing water services after having problem with public institutions among others of its customers owe them over US $8.1m.
The water meter will help DAWASCO meet the growing demand from customers and the public at large and losses occurring during transmission would be curbed.
Director of Customer Operations, Kiula Kingu; ”The introduction in public institutions is a pilot project and consequently, the success of the pre-paid meters in public institutions will lead to an extension to other customers.”
The project has gotten a major boost after President John Magufuli ordered the corporation to disconnect water from all government institutions with outstanding bills that had then amounted to US $18m.
