GAME OF THRONES THEMED HOTEL OPENS IN LAPLAND FINLAND
Winter is here to stay as Finland opens a “Game of Thrones” themed hotel.
Fans who have long dreamed of visiting the mythical Seven Kingdoms can now get the ultimate Westeros experience.
The GOT themed hotel which is located in Finnish Lapland, an hour-and-a-half flight from Helsinki has 30 standard rooms and suites, all made of ice and snow.
It changes in shape, size and design every year. Covering an area of about 20,000 square meters, the GOT hotel consists of an Ice Restaurant with frozen dining furniture and a menu featuring reindeer steak, an Ice Bar that serves drinks in glasses carved from ice, an Ice Chapel and a cinema.
There is a life sized iron throne with swords made from crystal ice, a creepy Braavosi Hall of Faces, an ice-breathing dragon and a white walker with glowing blue eyes.
The temperature inside the ice buildings sits between -2 and -5 C, regardless of the outdoor temperature, and guests are given a fleece-lined sleeping bags to keep them warm for overnight stay, as well as a hot berry juice in the morning.
Guests can also choose to spend the evening in either the ice bar or enjoy a three-course Finnish-style meal in the ice restaurant.
During the day, guests can take part in a number of activities, including a reindeer or husky ride, snowmobile safari, a hike on snowshoes with coffee by the campfire or a paddling trip.
