Member of Parliament for Sheffield South East, Clive Betts; “I welcome the Leisure Hall proposals as it is vital we support development and the creation of economic prosperity in the Sheffield City Region. The 1,550 jobs it will create will make a big difference in the immediate locality and I am confident businesses in the region will benefit too. Alongside other key projects, such as the Sheffield Retail Quarter, Moor Sheffield, HS2 and the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, the Meadowhall Leisure Hall will be a great asset, helping the Sheffield City Region take another significant step forward.”
Meadowhall which opened in 1990 was the second largest shopping centre in UK will now have British Land, who is expected to now invest £300m into the biggest development at Meadowhall since it opened.
The Leisure Hall is expected to be open in 2021.
