GHANA GET US$1.5M FROM AFDB FOR ENERGY EFFICIENCY
AFDB give Ghana US$1.5m as part of its plans to develop Africa’s energy deficits.
Ghanaian government has receive the sum of US$1.5m for its energy sector. This funds is from the African Development Bank Group (AFDB) with will help support the nation for energy generation. It will also help Ghana in terms of removing barriers to investment in renewable energy efficiency. Meanwhile, AFDB feels that Ghana has the right tools in place to achieve universal access to energy.
The institution is asking Africans to follow in the footstep of Ghana. This comment was made by the AFDB President Akinwumi Ayodeji Adesina at the opening of the Fourth Ghana Renewable Energy Fair in Accra.
President Akinwumi Ayodeji Adesina said “Energy efficiency was one of the key solutions for climate change. He also said they have identify some Africa countries that they will be supporting. ”
According to the Akinwumi, they will support to establish energy regulatory frameworks to attract private investment into the sector. Meanwhile, he said the bank has also launch a 100 million-dollar Energy Inclusion Facility. This facility will help cover financing of energy projects in some African countries to ensure energy efficiency.
Ghana Deputy Minister of Energy, William Owuraku Aidoo said “Energy was the engine for economic growth. He also said the Government was reshaping its renewable energy laws to address the challenges confronting the sub-sector.”
The Deputy Minister also praise the World Bank, Swiss Development and Organisation and African Development Bank. He said they have support Ghana’s Energy Development Access Project towards the implementation of renewable energy initiatives nationwide.
