GAS RESEARCH INSTITUTE BUILDING COMMISSIONED IN ALGERIA

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, chaired the inauguration ceremony of the Institute, located in building “B”’ at the headquarters of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Forum, Mohamed Hamel, the Director General of the Institute, Azzedine Adjeb and senior officials of the sector.

The Gas Research Institute aims to provide a framework for scientific and technological collaboration by boosting the exchange of information, innovations, best practices and training, along with facilitating the transfer and development of technology throughout the gas value chain.

The GRI was founded in 2018 and has already held 15 meetings of its scientific committee, along with developing its inaugural project on routine flaring. It also organized two workshops, addressing routine flaring and hydrogen.

At the 2022’s Sixth GECF Summit in Doha (Qatar), the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune called to “exploit the Algerian Gas Research Institute to meet the challenge of technological development of this energy and find technological solutions, with a view to improving its quality.”
