KENYA KIPCHOGE KEINO STADIUM RENOVATION TO BE COMPLETED IN THREE MONTHS

Kenya government set deadline for the renovation of kipchoge keino stadium after a tour of the sports facility by officials.

The renovation is been carried-out after the country decided the project must still be done even after the hosting right of the 2018 African Nations Championship were taken from Kenya and given to Morocco.

The company behind the renovation is Weihai International Economic &Technical Cooperative Co., Ltd (WIETC) which has stated that the project is currently at 90% and will be handing over the complete phase 1 to the government.

Sports Principal Secretary Kirimi Kaberia; “We have been engaging the site contractors who have assured us that they are committed to ensure that the timelines are met and by April we will have the stadium up and running so that we can host major sporting events.”

The hosting right was taken from the country because the Confederation of African football cited lack of preparedness on the part of Kenya as their reason for moving the biennial tournament set aside for local based players only.

According to Kaberia, The government has set a deadline for the completion of the stadium which is by April 2018.
