TOGO GOVT. SEEK SUPPORT FROM WORLD BANK FOR URBAN INFRASTRUCTURE AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS (PIDU)

Togo’s Minister of Urban Planning, Kodjo Adédzé, met with a World Bank delegation in Lomé to review the progress of the Urban Infrastructure and Development Project (PIDU).

The discussions highlighted key achievements, including the construction of drinking water infrastructure in Naki-est and Dapaong, the rehabilitation of the Kpèlèou bridge, and roadworks in Kara.

The meeting underscored the project’s positive impact on infrastructure and employment, noting that nearly 142,000 people were employed during its implementation phase.

Minister Adédzé announced plans to initiate studies for supplying drinking water to Naki-est from the Dalwak dam in Dapaong and emphasized the ongoing development of the Schéma directeur d’aménagement et d’urbanisme in six communes: Zio 1, Kloto 1, Ogou 1, Tchaoudjo 1, Tône 1, and Kozah 1.

Funded by the World Bank, the PIDU aims to enhance access to urban infrastructure and basic services in Togo’s towns and cities.

The project has made significant strides, improving essential infrastructure and creating thousands of jobs, thereby contributing to the overall development and well-being of Togolese communities.
