Belayneh Kinde Group has inaugurated a new electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Debre Birhan, Ethiopia, with an investment of 3 billion Birr. The state-of-the-art factory boasts an annual production capacity of over 1,000 electric vehicles.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Arega Kebede, President of the Amhara Regional State, alongside other senior regional government officials. This facility is set to create 1,000 jobs, providing significant employment opportunities in the region. Additionally, it aims to facilitate technological transfer and help Ethiopia save foreign currency by reducing reliance on imported vehicles.
Spanning 9,000 square meters, the assembly plant is equipped to produce a variety of vehicles, including minibuses, coaster buses, luxury buses, and dry and liquid cargo trucks. This diverse product lineup positions the factory to address the increasing demand for sustainable transportation solutions in Ethiopia and the broader East African market.
The inauguration of this electric vehicle factory marks a pivotal step in Ethiopia’s efforts to modernize its transportation infrastructure and reduce its carbon footprint.
