Detailed Job Description
- The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for directing and managing the implementation of the financial strategy and framework for the company. He/she will be responsible for ensuring it effectively supports the achievements of short, medium and long-term goals whilst also ensuring that agreed finance policies are enforced.
- Oversee and manage company accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems in line with the company’s Finance policy, IFRS and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) etc.
- Ensuring regular reconciliation of supplier, intra-company and inter-company accounts
- Develop and manage a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism
- Optimize the management of banking relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance the company’s cash position
- Oversee the company’s budgeting process & ensue full implementation and monitoring of the agreed budget
- Developing and implementing systems to ensure the collection, reporting and analysis of performance data for internal and external accountability and performance improvement
- Provide business analysis and decision support to the CEO through both proactive and reactive performance analysis and by offering advice on cost management strategies as required
Required Qualifications and Experience
- First degree in Accounting or related discipline from a reputable tertiary institution
- Professional accounting/ finance certification, e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA)
- An MBA or Business related postgraduate degree would be an added advantage
- Minimum of 12 years post-qualification experience with at least 5 years in a management role
- Knowledge of the technicalities of crop production and processing
- A proven track record in managing an agribusiness at executive management level
- Hands on experience in financial planning, budgeting and forecasting
- Excellent understanding of operations in the food industry
- Hands on experience in the implementation of ERP systems/ accounting software e.g. SAP, Oracle, etc.
- Ability to plan strategically and successfully lead growth within an organisation
- Basic Treasury Management skills
- Ability to lead teams and drive the company towards a common vision and goal
- Excellent communication, business presentation, persuasion, and analytical skills
- Strong diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships, convening, facilitating and building consensus
