ETHIOPIAN ADD CAIRO TO IT’s AIR CARGO NETWORK

Ethiopian Cargo and Logistics, one of the business units within the Ethiopian Airlines Group, says it will begin freighter operations to Egypt’s capital Cairo starting next week.

The operations would take the number of Ethiopian Cargo and Logistics destinations in Africa near to 24.

“Cairo to become 34th African freighter destination for Ethiopian Airlines as it starts weekly freighter flights as of July 4, 2023,” Ethiopian announced

The airline currently covers more than 130 international destinations around the world with both belly hold capacity and 69 dedicated freighter services with its young and modern fleet.

The Cairo service will be served with B737-800F aircraft that can lift 22 tons per flight, according to Ethiopian Airlines.

The latest development a week came after the airline reported a strong recovery from the impact of the COVID-19 crisis.

“Ethiopian Airlines is performing very well. Our current performance, in all parameters, indicates that our success will continue strong. We have recovered well from the impacts of the pandemic,” Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said last week.

The national flag carrier transported 13.7 million passengers, showing a 55% increase from the same period last year. The airlines also carried 723 thousand tons of freighters in the same period.

“By the end of this fiscal year, we expect to generate USD6.1 billion, this is a 20% growth compared to our last year’s performance,” Mesfin said.

Ethiopian Airlines commands the lion’s share of the Pan African passenger and cargo network operating to more than 150 domestic and international passenger and cargo destinations across five continents.
