GHANA AND BURKINA FASO SEEK JOINT REQUEST FOR RAILWAY PROJECT
Ghana and Burkina Faso plans to construct a railways that will link both nations and help boost relationship between them.
Ghana and Burkina Faso has issue a joint Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEOI). The request is for a cross-border railway public-private partnership (PPP) project. According to report, the both nations are seeking for technical and financial partners for the construction and operation of a railway line.
The fund for the project is through a public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement. It will also be develop through a Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis. The railway will link Tema Port, in the south-east of Ghana, to Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso.
The both nations also have a historic trading partners and share a 549 km north-south border. It will also improve the transport and logistics chain as well as accelerating economic growth and development of both countries.
According to report, the tender process will be handle by both countries Ministries of Railways Development and Transport, Urban Mobility and Road Safety.
Bidders are requested for the project from all counties which will go through the both nations ministries. The project is inline with Ghana government’s efforts to improve access and connections to and from Tema Port. The submission deadline is on 21 may 2018.
