GHANA VICE PRESIDENT CUT SOD FOR CONSTRUCTION OF MODERN SPORT COMPLEX

The sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a modern sports complex in Gambaga, North East Region, sparked excitement as Vice President and NPP Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, initiated the project. The complex aims to provide state-of-the-art sports facilities for the youth of Gambaga and neighboring areas, while also serving as a social hub for the entire community.

Addressing the ceremony, attended by enthusiastic youth, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the Gambaga Sports Complex, upon completion, would offer a platform for youth to showcase their sporting talents and provide local teams with a quality playing field.

This initiative follows Dr. Bawumia’s recent commissioning of the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex in Nelerigu, which he personally built for the community and its surroundings. The project contractor, Wembley Sports, has committed to completing the Gambaga Sports Complex, funded by Ghana Gas, within five months.

Key facilities of the complex will include a 1000-seater stands, a VIP area, washrooms for teams and spectators, changing rooms, and office complexes, among others.

Under the Akufo-Addo government, over 150 astro turfs have been constructed across Ghana since 2017, marking a significant increase from the two public astro turfs existing before the government took office. The Gambaga Sports Complex will become the second astro turf and sports complex established by the government in the North East Region, following a similar one built in Walewale four years ago.
