Lagos among cheapest cities in the World

Nigeria biggest city lagos has been rank among the top ten cheapest cities in the world. This is after Economist Intelligence Unit’s bi-annual release it survey on the world cheapest cities. Lagos development has been great, as of two years ago the state was named by estate agent Savills as the most expensive African city to stay and work in.

The survey was carried-out on 127 countries as they compares the cost of more than 150 items which are rent, food, transport and clothing in 133 cities. The survey will help companies calculate the restitution packages and allowances in other to relate to staff and business travelers.

Meanwhile, the survey will also tracks whether prices have gone up or down by comparing them with the cost of living in New York, which is used as a benchmark.

  • Caracas (Venezuela)
  • Damascus (Syria)
  • Tashkent (Uzbekistan)
  • Almaty (Kazakhstan)
  • Bangalore (India)
  • Karachi (Pakistan)
  • Lagos (Nigeria)
  • Buenos Aires (Argentina)
  • Chennai (India)
  • New Delhi (India)

Meanwhile, Paris and Hong Kong were tied with Singapore as the world’s most expensive cities to live in. Roxana Slavcheva in his report said that is was the first time in more than 30 years that the three cities has shared the spot. This simply shows that pricey global cities is growing more alike.

The top ten rich cities are dominated by Asian and European cities, with Osaka and Seoul in joint fifth and joint seventh places respectively. Zurich (4th), Geneva (joint 5th) and Copenhagen (joint 7th) also in the elite club.
