YAHOO MESSENGER IS SET TO SHUT DOWN THIS JULY

After 20 years of operations Yahoo Messenger would be shutting down.

Come July 17,  Yahoo Messenger as the instant messaging app would be is shutting down after 20 years of operation. The company announced that the messenger will go offline without  any reason for the shutdown.

With the huge popularity of the likes of Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Twitter, and Instagram this news comes as no surprise.

It is speculated that the competition between these popular applications may be the cause. For example, 800 million users use Instagram daily. There is no replacement yet for Yahoo Messenger, but Yahoo said it was experimenting with new services and apps, including an invite-only group messaging app called Yahoo Squirrel.

Even though Yahoo Messanger has lost its relevance in the past few years, there’s no denying the fact that it was one of the first (if not the first) instant messaging apps. Many of us interacted with.

i would like to throw back to those things we all remember about Yahoo Messenger.

Your User ID may sound funny or retarded to you now but you probably had the coolest one among your friends. example tootsiepop254, thininside847, tikileiforreal.

Yahoo messenger  is one of the first social media platforms to access multiple chatrooms. it was a place where we met our first set of foreign friends, met random people from different parts of the world to build virtual friendships.

Even though Yahoo Messenger will cease to exist soon, these memories will always remain with us. In order to keep them alive, Yahoo is giving users the opportunity to download their chat history.
