MOROCCO HIGHWAY COMPANY ADVISE CITIZEN TO AVIOD FEZ-OUJDA HIGHWAY AFTER WEATHER ALERTS
Morocco’s Highway Company has called on citizens to exercise vigilance, urging users of the Fez-Oujda highway to avoid traveling and take necessary precautions should they do so.
The decision came amid a series of weather alerts, forecasting strong wind and dust storms in several regions, including Taourirt.
The company called on citizens to contact the phone number 5050 for more information on traffic conditions as well as to check its road traffic application.
On Sunday, news outlet SNRTNews reported on the death of three people and the injury of five others during a traffic accident on the highway linking Agadir and Casablanca due to the strong winds.
Four of the wounded are suffering from serious injuries, the same source said.
The Ministry of Equipment issued a statement yesterday, calling on drivers to exercise extreme caution due to reduced or sometimes zero visibility due to sandstorms, heavy rains, and strong winds.
The ministry also recommended postponing travel until weather conditions improve.
Highways were full on Sunday as it marked the end of school holidays for primary, secondary, and high schools in many regions across the country.
