Budapest, Hungary’s capital is always a fun destination to visit.  Many people did travel here for day trips to visit its farmer’s markets, shop, and dine at its restaurants and cafes where prices are low and quality exceptional.

There is always something here to see, something that will draw you back, like a beautiful woman who  winks at you right before she turns the corner.

Here are some interesting facts about Budapest

Hungary is one of the oldest countries in Europe. The settlement of the Magyar’s in Hungary dates back to 896. The founding of the State of Hungary was in 1000 (originally known as the Hungarian Kingdom)

Budapest was created when three cities joined together: Óbuda, Buda and Pest. It has the oldest subway-line and is home to the second largest synagogue in the world.

Budapest is big on art and culture there are more than 40 theaters and over 100 museums and galleries in the city. There is a statue here that can make you a great writer. It seems to have some miraculous powers. The legend has it that touching the pen of the Anonymus will bless you with great writing abilities.

Also if you rub the belly of the statue of the policeman in front of the Basilica of San Esteban, you will never put on weight!

Thanks to an abundance of natural hot springs, Hungary can boast around 450 public spas and bathhouses. The most famous of all of the baths is  Széchenyi.  

Traditional Hungarian food is hearty and warm – perfect for all. Goulash is one of the most popular dishes, and you’ll find it all around Budapest.

For sweeping views of the city, head up to Fisherman’s Bastion on the Buda side of the river. The effort will be worth it, as the views are incredible!
