CONSTRUCTION OF KAKAMEGA HOSPITAL HALTED AFTER STRIKE IN KENYA

Construction of kakamega hospital on hold after worker fell from a the fourth storey and lost his life in Kenya.

The construction of the kakamega hospital has been halt after protest by workers over safety concerns. Furthermore, it has resulted in the suspension of work for one week so that workers will be attended to.

Currently, the project director has asked the main contractor, CRJE East Africa to review the safety concerns. The contractor will also raise all the safety issues and find a solution to the problem.

Project director, Dr Brenda Makokha said, “This is a five-year project and we do not want the construction of the hospital to be delay. He also said that it should not be delay due to issue between workers and the main contractor.”

The project has already lost one worker after the individual slip and fell to his death from the fourth storey. According to report, the workers said that the working condition is very bad. One of them said that their supervisor shout and insult them as they go about their duties.

The chinese company are to pay for the burial of the worker.
