BRISTISH INVESTORS EYE DAKHLA’s RENEWABLE ENERGY POTENTIAL

A delegation of British investors are setting their sights on Dakhla’s abundant renewable energy potential as they embark on a two-day visit to the southern Moroccan region of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab to explore investment opportunities.

Led by Brannan Tempest, the CEO of Oblin Group, which specializes in the engineering and construction of solar photovoltaic and wind power systems, the delegation’s visit aims to gather information on key development projects in the region and the progress being made across various sectors.

The British delegation started their visit on Tuesday with a meeting with Lamine Benomar, the Wali of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region and governor of the Oued Eddahab province. The meeting focused on the developments that the region has achieved in various areas under the New Development Model for the Moroccan southern provinces.

The British investors also held a meeting with the President of the Regional Council of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab El Khattat Yanja, during which he highlighted the significant progress achieved in the region.

In a statement to the press, Yanja emphasized the efforts Morocco has made to improve the region’s business climate.

“The British delegation expressed their intention to carry out major investment projects in the region with significant budget allocations,” he said, underlining that these investments would contribute significantly to Dakhla-Oued Eddahab’s economy as well as create job opportunities for the locals.

For his part, Tempest stressed his readiness to uncover promising investment opportunities in Dakhla’s blossoming renewable energy sector.

“We plan to launch a major renewable energy project producing green hydrogen and ammonia in the southern provinces of Morocco,” he said, highlighting Dakhla’s favorable investment climate, as well as abundant wind and sunlight.

Oblin Group will allocate a substantial budget for the project, Tempest announced, noting that a new green industrial zone will be established for the benefit of manufacturers of photovoltaic solar panels and wind turbine blades.

“We are ready to launch our project,” he emphasized, noting that it will create around 5,000 job opportunities.
