PERSISTENT FLOODING IN BIETRY – ABIDJAN
The raining season has returned to Western Africa, and flooding is ravaging most communities. Here are photos of flooding at Biétry – a luxury residential area located in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Apparently, this community suffers from flooding every year, and no permanent solution has been effected yet. These persistent flooding shows a neglect in urban development and infrastructure planning.
Flooding occurs most commonly from heavy rainfall when the drainage systems do not have the capacity to carry excess water. Hence, engineers should always design resilient infrastructures.
