TOGO HOTEL SET PACE WITH 500KWC SOLAR POWER PLANT INSTALLATION

Hotel Sarakawa in Togo is getting into a full energy transition to solar, with the installation of a photovoltaic power plant of 500 kilowatt-peak (KWC).

The solar power plant which will cost 496 million CFA francs will be deployed over an area of 4,000 square meters, dressing the roof of the hotel’s main building with 1,224 photovoltaic panels, each acting as a generator of renewable energy.

The infrastructure was inaugurated by the flagship of the Togolese hotel industry, Friday, August 11, 2023, in the presence of several government representatives, in particular, the Minister in charge of the environment, Foli Bazi Katari, and the Minister of Higher Education, Ihou Wateba Majesty.

The infrastructure is the result of a collaboration with the German company Cool Solar Energy and works in symbiosis with the traditional energy of the Compagnie Énergie Electrique du Togo (CEET), as well as with two generators.

The new structure should allow substantial savings. ” Currently estimated at more than half a billion FCFA, these costs could be reduced to 350 million FCFA per year despite the extension of our hotel “, according to Nathalie Bitho, the hotel administrator.

The Minister of Environment and Forest Resources, Foli-Bazi Katari, took the opportunity to salute this exemplary approach, describing it as a concrete manifestation of Togo’s commitment to fight against climate change and to succeed in the energy transition.
