Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) to save cost as raw water pipeline construction reaches 50% completion.

The raw water pipeline construction which is now 50% complete will save Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) approximately US$780,000 a year in electricity costs. This construction which is worth US$18 million will draw water from the dam of the Mt. Coffee Hydropower Plant to the White Plains Water Treatment Plant.

According to Jurgen De Moor, project engineer, all 820 pipes are on site after arriving for India. He also said that they have cleared 98% of the route along the pipeline and the pipes have been strung along. They currently await the process of trenching, pipe laying, and backfilling, which has already begun in some areas.

De Moor who works for Denys said the project has two types of pipes The first ones that will be exposed and others that will be buried. He also said the coatings will help protect bacteria from penetrating the pipes and contaminating the water while also preventing corrosion of the pipes.

When completed, the pipe will help improve the reliability and quality of water supply to Monrovia. As well as save Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) some money. This project will help reduce poverty in Liberia by promoting economic growth and inclusion.
