NAIROBI COUNTY SET TO ISSUE WAIVER FEE FOR RENOVATION AND REPAIR OF FLOOD-RELATED DESTRUCTION

The Nairobi County Government, under the leadership of Governor Johnson Sakaja, has taken proactive measures to address the aftermath of flood-related destruction in the city.

The County Government has waived statutory fees for renovations and repair of buildings affected by flood-related destruction. This decision aims to alleviate the financial burden on affected property owners and expedite the restoration process.

To qualify for the fee waiver, applicants must provide evidence of the impact of the floods on their properties. This requirement ensures that the waiver is targeted towards those genuinely affected by the disaster.

The directive was issued by Governor Sakaja through an internal memo, emphasizing the urgency of the situation and the need for swift action to support affected residents.

The heavy downpour experienced in Nairobi has resulted in significant damage to residential buildings and infrastructure, displacing hundreds of families. The waiver of statutory fees aims to provide relief to those grappling with the aftermath of the floods.

The Kenya Red Cross has undertaken a needs assessment for affected families and pledged to provide temporary shelter to the displaced. This collaborative effort underscores the importance of coordinated response and support in times of crisis.

The decision to waive statutory fees demonstrates the County Government’s commitment to addressing the immediate needs of flood-affected residents and facilitating the reconstruction efforts to restore normalcy in the affected areas.
