HOW TEMANE-MAPUTO ELECTRICITY TRANSMISSION LINE PROJECT IS GOING THROUGH TEST IN MOZAMBIQUE

The Temane-Maputo electricity transmission line project is making significant progress, with reliability tests set to commence next month on the equipment installed in the three substations under construction.

The infrastructure comprises four substations in total, with three completely new substations and one extension of an existing substation in Maputo. These substations are crucial components of the Temane-Maputo electricity transmission line project.

The three new substations are located in Pambara (Vilankulo district, Inhambane province), Chibuto (Gaza province), and Matalana (Marracuene district, Maputo province). Work on these substations is approximately 93% complete, indicating that conditions are almost ready for reliability tests to begin in May.

The reliability tests are expected to last at least two months, starting in May. These tests are essential to ensure that the equipment installed in the substations meets the required standards and functions effectively.

The Temane-Maputo transmission line is a 400 KV infrastructure spanning approximately 563 kilometers. Its primary purpose is to evacuate power generated at the Thermoelectric Power Plant, which relies on natural gas extracted from the Pande and Temane deposits in Inhambane by the South African multinational Sasol.

Adriano Jonas, the director of the Temane-Maputo Transmission Line Construction Project, oversees the implementation of the project. His role involves coordinating the construction efforts and ensuring that the project progresses according to schedule.

The progress made in the construction of the substations and the upcoming reliability tests signify significant advancements in the Temane-Maputo electricity transmission line project, which will play a crucial role in enhancing energy infrastructure and facilitating power distribution in the region.
