MALAWI GOVT. SAYS ISRAEL GOVT. ARE SEEKING 80,000 CONSTRUCTION WORKERS

Malawi Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu has announced that the government of Israel is seeking to recruit approximately 80,000 workers for the construction industry and an additional 3,000 workers for the agriculture sector, particularly in farms.

The Israel Builders Association has expressed its intention to come to Malawi to formally recruit workers for the construction industry. It is estimated that around 80,000 workers will benefit from this initiative. Additionally, an MoU has been signed for the recruitment of 3,000 workers in the agriculture sector.

The opening of the Malawi Embassy in Tel Aviv and the signing of the MoU on Temporary Employment Workers in the Agriculture Sector signify a deepening of diplomatic relations between Malawi and Israel. These initiatives demonstrate the government’s commitment to strengthening ties with Israel.

During the delegation’s visit to Israel, various engagements took place, including meetings with Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz and representatives from the Israel Builders Association. These discussions focused on bilateral topics and the recruitment process for Malawian workers.

Efforts are being made to ensure that recruited workers have access to affordable air tickets and transportation. Meetings with airline owners in Israel were held to facilitate this process and ensure the welfare of the recruited workers.

The Ministry of Labour will lead the recruitment process in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders. The government emphasizes the need for serious and willing workers to benefit from the opportunities available in Israel.

The developments highlight the significant opportunities for employment and cooperation between Malawi and Israel, with both countries working towards mutual benefits and strengthened bilateral relations.
