HOTEL CONVERSION TO MALL APPROVAL NOT GRANTED YET IN NIGERIA
Kano state government in the northern region of Nigeria says they are yet to give the final approval to convert the Daula Hotel into a Mall.
The state Commissioner for Information, Malam Mohammed Garba, said approval was only given to Mudatex Mudassir and Brothers Ltd to submit details of the project to the Commissioner for Housing, who would then brief the council on the next step.
Garba also noted that as of now, neither costing has been made for the project nor has the arrangement been agreed upon on whether it would be Public-Private Partnership (PPP) or not.
The former Daula Hotel was earlier converted to one of the campuses of Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST) where the Hospitality and Tourism school of the institution was situated.
However after a series of social media concern by residents about the state of the former hotel, the government wants to turn it into a shopping mall.
