AGRO FINANCING MODEL IN AFRICA RECEIVES INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION
British Consultants in partnership with African stakeholders design a Highly Commended PPP framework model for the Agro-Industry in Mozambique.
Booker Tate Limited, a British AgriBusiness expert based in Oxfordshire has collaborated with stakeholders in Mozambique in designing a “Highly Commended” Public Private Partnership framework that can be replicated across Africa for financing and implementing AgriBusinesses.
Collaborating with Leadership Business Consulting (LBC) – a Mozambican firm, they are deploying the model on the Cofamosa Irrigation Project. This project is a planned 10,000 hectare irrigated sugarcane development project in Mozambique. The initiative was conceptualised in 2002, but failed to kick off due to the lack of financial resources. However, in 2015, an accord was reached by the African Development Bank, Maputo Provincial Government, and Government of Mozambique to develop the Cofamosa Irrigation Project seeing that it will bring about a significant economic and social benefit to the Districts of Maputo Province.
