BUKHUNGU STADIUM CONSTRUCTION BEGINS PHASE TWO IN KENYA
Bukhungu Stadium construction kick-off after kakamega county governor pledge to finish project before tenure finish.
The second phase construction of bukhungu stadium has kick-off in Kenya. The project is aimed at making sure the country gets an international rating which will enable them host more international competitions.
According to reports from local media house Daily Nation, the second phase project will come at a construction cost of 23m USD (Sh2.5 billion). It was also reported that Kakamega County government is funding the construction that will have a seat capacity of 30,000 fans when completed.
Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya said “I want to assure football fans that construction of the stadium will be complete before the end of my term.” He also said My dream is to make Bukhungu stadium one of the best sporting facility in the country and region at large”
The second phase will comprise of a perimeter wall, terraces, roof, washrooms and offices which will add to the already existing VIP room, dressing rooms, VIP stand, offices for County staff as well as a parking.
The first phase was completed in 2017 at a construction cost of 4.7m USD (Sh500 million).
