Dangote Cement to open largest Cement Plant in Congo
Dangote Cement to unveil largest cement plant in Congo.
The Dangote Cement 1.5 million metric tonnes per annum capacity Cement Plant in Congo will be officially opened on Thursday (23/11/2017). Once the plant is unveiled it will become the largest cement plant in the Congo.
The plant which rolled out its first bag of cement on the August 7, costed US$500 million to construct and is expected to directly employ more than 1,000 people and create other indirect jobs.
Dangote Cement is currently in 17 African countries and the Congo plant once unveiled will make the number of fully operational plants controlled by Dangote Cement across the continent, a total of 10.
Dangote Cement maintained its stronghold in the domestic cement market as it accounted for 65 percent of the Nigerian cement market, even the Pan- African volumes also went up by 7.5 percent to 7.0 mta in the first nine (9) months of 2017. Analysis of the results indicated that the company recorded strong volumes in Senegal, Ethiopia, and Cameroon.
