GHA TO CONSTRUCT DRAINAGE ON ACCRA-NSAWAM HIGHWAY
GHA to construct drainage at Hebron-Dobro section of the Accra-Nsawam Highway
Ghana Highways Authority (GHA) is making plans to construct a drainage that will help solve the problem on Accra-Nsawam Highway. The aim is to prevent sand and mud from being dumped onto the road.
The statement was announced when Director of Road Maintenance of the GHA, Maama Markwei Sawyer visited the Highway. During his visit, Sawyer said his outfit would soon construct the drainage in a bid to find a lasting solution to the problem and protect the lives of road users.
According to Sawyer, the project will be financed by the government and property owners along the road. He also said the design and cost estimate of the drain is yet to be determined.
Municipal Engineer of the Ga West Municipal Assembly, Eric Donkor said “Latest by Friday, our men would be moved here. He said they will demolish the structure which is being constructed close to the river.”
According to Donkor, the activities by the private developers could impede the free flow of the river and caused flooding.
