KENYAN CHIEF JUSTICE SWEARS IN 47 NEW RESIDENT MAGISTRATES
47 new Resident Magistrates sworn in by Kenya’s Chief Justice.
After the Anti-graft summit was held last Friday 25th January 2019; Kenya’s chief justice presided over the swearing of new resident magistrates. This process is to help increase and boost the nation’s judiciary capacity.
The Chief Justice charged the new resident magistrates to think thorough their rulings. He said it will help avoid delaying justice to deserving citizens in the nation.
In his own words, Chief Justice David Maraga said; “I urge you to take charge of your courtrooms, ensure that we effectively manage cases and matters before us”. He also said; “endless adjournment of cases on frivolous grounds is the very reason that we have case backlog in our system”.

According to him, “The Constitution promises the people of Kenya among other things that you as a magistrate will do justice to all persons irrespective of status.”
As such he expects that all the new resident magistrates will uphold the promise the constitution have given to the people.
He also urged the new resident magistrates to Kenyans with honesty, zeal and dedication.

The Chief Justice has been trying to make the public understand that the judiciary is in perfect condition. He has been very vocal about the judiciary especially at the last Anti-Graft summit.
