LIBERIA GOVERNMENT AND MCC BREAK GROUND FOR WATER PIPELINE
Raw water pipeline groundbreaking ceremony to take place soon in Liberia
Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) and Millennium Challenge Account (MCC) will break ground for the raw water pipeline. The raw pipeline which is worth US$18 million will be built between the dam of the Mt. Coffee Hydropower plant and the White Plains Water Treatment Plant.
According to reports, the ceremony will take place on November 1, 2019 at the White Plains Water Treatment Plant. With attendance from high-level government officials and diplomatic guests.
Meanwhile, MCC said the 48-inch pipeline is part of the Energy project under Millennium Challenge Compact. That it will replace the original 36-inch diameter pipeline that was destroyed during Liberia’s civil war.
The new water pipeline will improve water quality as well as save LWSC some funds. This fund US$780,000 is for the cost of electricity to pump water to the water treatment plant.
