CMA CGM SIGN CONTRACT TO OPERATE CONTAINERS ON LEKKI DEEP SEAPORT

Lekki deep seaport container terminal operator contract sign with world leaders in maritime transport CMA CGM Group.

CMA CGM Group which is a world leader in maritime transport has sign a contract with lekki deep seaport. The contract will see the company be the container terminal operator. Meanwhile its subsidiary CM terminals will be in charge of  marketing, operating and maintaining the lekki Deep Sea Port.

Chief Executive Officer of Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise, Navin Nahata said “We are excited about this development. He also said that CMA Terminals is a world class port operator. He said that they can be relied upon to provide international port standard delivery services.”

The lekki port will have two container berths upon completion in 2020.

Executive Officer of the CMA CGM Group Farid T. Salem, said “Lekki Port will allow us to bring to Nigeria larger container ships from Europe and Asia. He also said that it will better serve development of the entire region. He also highlighted that it will benefit the entire Nigeria supply chain and market as well as neighboring countries.”

Furthermore, the lekki Seaport container terminal will be equip with a 1,200-meter-long quay. It will also have 13 quay cranes and will have a capacity of 2.5 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units).

Having a depth of 16-meter, it will enable the group to deploy ships with a capacity of up to 14,000 TEUs.
