IPP TO BUILD 147 MW WIND PROJECT IN SOUTH AFRICA

IPP set to build a wind project after agreement was signed with Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd in South Africa.

Independent Power Producer (IPP) has sign an agreement with Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd for the wind project. The project which will see IPP build, own and operate a 147 MW wind plant in Roggeveld. It will also see a 4,7 MW mini hydroelectric plant in Free State.

The overall investment in the construction of the two plants amounts to 324 million Euros. It will also generate 613 GWh per year from the wind farm and will satisfy the need of individuals. It will also satisfy the need of roughly 49.200 households every year while avoiding the emission of about 502.900 tons of CO2 emissions.

The deal was sign in the presence of South African Energy Minister Jeff Radebe. The construction of the project will begins in 2018 and the Commercial Operation Date is to be in April 2021.

Meanwhile Kruisvallei small-hydroelectric plant will generate around 28 GWh of energy annually. It will also cater to the energy needs of more than 2.330 households.

The plant will save atmospheric emissions of more than 23.800 tons of CO2 per year.
