Japan Govt. aims to empower women with processing plant construction in Katariga

Katariga rural community has received a processing plant from the Japanese Government. The plant which is worth US$79,000 will be for processing shea nut and rice in the community.

The aim of the project was to empower women in the community. This is because the shea nut is one of few employment opportunities available to women. It will also help the women to expand their

The project which is under the Grant Assistance for Grassroot Human Security Project (GAGHSP) is focus on reducing poverty in the country.

Deputy Japan Ambassador to Ghana, Hiromoto Oyama said “We work with our partners to improve upon the wellbeing of people.”

The multi-purpose processing plant is key for local income production in the country. According to Oyama, human security is a major focus of the government of Japan as they are working towards achieving it.

Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Sangnarigu, Mariama Iddirisu said ”The plant will boost income status of women in the area.”

According to her, it will help in achieving the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s vision of Ghana Beyond Aid.
